The responsibilities expected of beginning / experienced Floral Designers / Salespersons in upscale flower and gift shops: 1. Successfully complete floral design course(s). 2. Design daily orders to the store's high standards. 3. Price designs correctly - show calculation on back of design copy order form. 4. Courteously take orders from customers in the store or via the telephone. 5. Process fresh flowers, foliages and plants. Check-in product for quality and check against invoices for accuracy. Reduce floral waste -- incorporate beautiful older flowers into every arrangement; maintain proper watering of plants and care of fresh flowers; be creative yet cost conscious. Insure that floral containers and buckets are clean. 6. Handle out-going wire orders. Knowledge of typing and computers necessary. 7. Keep the store front clean and prepare for the next customer. Maintain and clean refrigerator to keep it attractive. Clean-up at the end of the day. 8. Process custom dried and silk arrangements in a timely manner. 9. Be pro-active. There is always work to be done. 10. Maintain superior customer and industry relations - Service, Quality and Value. Handle all issues to the customer's satisfaction. Keep flower shop issues and problems within the shop, only. Be discrete. 11. Expand skill level - become proficient in silk, dried, wedding and funeral designs. 12. Promote a positive work environment. Be willing to work as a Team. 13.Be hard-working and punctual. Be personable and well-spoken. 14. Be willing to work on weekends and floral holidays and overtime. 15. Must drive and have a car. (Delivery duties are necessary in some smaller flower shops).
